Meet the Artist

Hi, I'm Jannie!

Jannie Ledard has her glass art studio in Jacksonville, Oregon where she creates fused glass jewelry and stained glass windows. She was born and raised in the beautiful town of Rouen, France, known for Monet's paintings of its cathedral and the cradle of writers Pierre Corneille and Gustave Flaubert. After graduating from the University of Rouen, she started a teaching career in France, then Martinique, New York City and San Francisco. She retired from teaching in Berkeley, California.

Her dear companion, Duane Sample, a mosaic artist, opened for her the doors to the luminous world of glass art. She studied the techniques of stained glass with John Peterson in Santa Barbara and attended many workshops. When Duane offered her a kiln, she discovered the multi-faceted realm of fusing and kiln-forming which brought a new dimension to her art.

About Jannie's Work

Stained Glass

Stained Glass Art by Jannie Ledard

Jannie uses either lead or copper foil technique, depending on the size of her design. Her unique work ranges from lampshades to window and home decor. She evolved from classical designs into her own more abstract creations, working lately with the amazing agates, so rich in various earthy colors and inclusions.

Warm Glass

Fused Glass Jewelry by Jannie Ledard

The vivid, luminescent colors of her bold fused glass jewelry are achieved by combining layers of dichroic and/or compatible glass. The jewelry is fused at 1400 to 1465 degrees and carefully annealed for lasting strength and durability. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Jannie is presently developing advanced fusing techniques which will lead her to combine stained glass artistry with her warm glass creations. Of local interest, a selection of Jannie's fused glass jewelry is on display at the Ashland Artisan Gallery, Ashland Oregon.
